About the event
Back to Back Theatre's legendary production returns to Melbourne after 15 years on prestigious international stages. The work follows the elephant-headed god Ganesha travelling through Nazi Germany to reclaim the Swastika, an ancient Hindu symbol. As the narrative unfolds, a second story emerges where the actors themselves grapple with the weighty responsibilities of storytelling and confront the ethics of cultural appropriation. The production challenges audiences to question the distinction between perception and reality, inviting reflection on who has the right to tell a story and who has the right to be heard.
