About
Carousel is a 1945 musical by Rogers and Hammerstein, the second major work from the creators of Oklahoma. The story follows Billy Bigelow, a carousel barker who falls in love with Julie Jordan in a tale exploring themes of hope, redemption, and the power of love. The musical features classic songs including If I Loved You, June Is Busting Out All Over, and You'll Never Walk Alone. The original Broadway production premiered on April 19, 1945, and has been adapted for film and stage productions, including a 1956 movie starring Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones.
