About the event
Motor City post-punk pioneers Protomartyr return to Australia after an eight-year absence with their atmospheric, anthemic sound. The Detroit outfit, formed in 2010, brings six albums of essential post-punk shaped by their hometown's gritty character and the legacy of local guitar bands. Fronted by Joe Casey, whose introspective vocals carry both vulnerability and conviction, Protomartyr craft a desolate, apocalyptic aesthetic that speaks to emotional deserts and times devoid of life. Their latest work, Formal Growth In The Desert, recorded with producer Jake Aron at Sonic Ranch in Texas, stands as a testament to perseverance through personal upheaval and transition. Support comes from garage powerpop supergroup Antenna, featuring members of Royal Headache and Neighbours.
