Rigoletto
Sydney Opera House- Joan Sutherland Theatre
About the event
Elijah Moshinsky's much-loved production of Rigoletto returns to the Sydney Opera House stage with glamorous La Dolce Vita-inspired sets and costumes, complete with a scene-stealing Fiat 500. This opera tells the dramatic story of Rigoletto, a court jester at the heart of Verdi's masterpiece, exploring themes of royalty, loyalty, devotion, lust and revenge. The revolving dolls-house style set provides cinematic detail to each scene. A brilliant cast led by Italian conductor Sesto Quatrini in his Opera Australia debut features Dalibor Jenis as the tortured jester, Kang Wang as the Duke, and rising star Gemma Nha as the jester's daughter. Performed in Italian with English and Simplified Chinese surtitles.
