About

North Melbourne Football Club is one of the oldest Australian rules football teams in the world, founded in 1869 and the fourth oldest club in the AFL. Inducted into the Victorian Football League in 1925, the club is characterized by its inner-city location, working-class background, and strong determination. Players are traditionally called 'Shinboners,' a term dating back to 19th-century local abattoir workers. Since 1950, the team has been known as the Kangaroos. The club is based at Arden Street in North Melbourne for training and administration, with Marvel Stadium serving as their home ground for matches.
