British India are an Australian indie rock band from Melbourne formed in 2007. The group emerged from Melbourne's underground scene with their critically acclaimed debut album Guillotine, which featured triple j favourites including 'Black & White Radio', 'Tie Up My Hands', and 'Run the Red Light'. They earned the AIR Award for Best New Independent Artist in 2007. Their 2008 album Thieves debuted at number 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart and received two ARIA Award nominations. The band's 2010 album Avalanche reached the ARIA Top 5. After signing with Liberation Records and Mushroom Music in 2013, they released Controller in 2014, delivering their most successful single 'I Can Make You Love Me', which achieved ARIA Gold and Platinum certification. Their fifth album Nothing Touches Me featured the ARIA Gold-certified singles 'Wrong Direction' and 'Suddenly'. With over 50 million streams, more than 1,500 headline shows, and performances at every major festival in Australia, British India remain one of Australia's most popular and enduring indie rock acts.
