Flotsam and Jetsam is an American thrash metal band formed in Phoenix, Arizona in 1981. The band is known for their landmark debut album Doomsday for the Deceiver and their long career standing alongside metal legends like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Venom. The current lineup features vocalist Eric 'A.K.' Knutson, guitarists Michael Gilbert and Steve Conley, bassist Bill Bodily, and drummer Ken Mary. The band is notable for having featured Jason Newsted as bassist from 1981 to 1986 before he joined Metallica. Flotsam and Jetsam continue to release new material and tour internationally as one of thrash metal's most respected and enduring acts.
