Hugh Cornwell

English rock musician, singer-songwriter and writer best known as the lead vocalist and lead guitarist of punk rock and new wave band The Stranglers from 1974 to 1990. As the main songwriter of the band's most memorable songs across ten stellar albums, Cornwell is widely regarded as the poet laureate of punk. His songwriting masterclass includes the iconic track Golden Brown from the La Folie album. Since leaving The Stranglers, Cornwell has recorded ten solo studio albums, including Moments of Madness and the live double album All the Fun of the Fair released in October 2024, which showcases gems from his solo catalogue alongside Stranglers classics. Known for experimenting with musical genres while maintaining his reputation as a wordsmith, Cornwell continues to record and perform live internationally.
