Mortiis

Mortiis is an electronic band from Notodden, Norway fronted by Håvard Ellefsen. The project began in 1993 as a solo endeavor to convey a narrative concept, gradually evolving into a full band over time. Ellefsen previously played bass in the black metal band Emperor from 1991 to 1992, an experience that shaped Mortiis's distinctive sound blending black metal elements with dark ambient, dungeon synth, electro-industrial, and industrial rock genres. The band has maintained a presence in the dark ambient and dungeon synth scene for over three decades, known for creating atmospheric and conceptual works that explore themes of dystopia and fantasy.
