Nytt Land

Nytt Land is a two-piece Nordic folk band from Kalachinsk in Siberia, Russia, formed in 2013 by husband and wife Anatoly and Natalya Pakhalenko. The band creates dark folk and pagan folk music featuring traditional throat singing and handmade traditional instruments including the Kantele and Talharpa. Their compositions draw thematically from Norse mythology and historic texts such as the Poetic Edda, with much of their work sung in Old Norse language. Their music has been described as dark, mystical, and authentically keeping history alive, with their style compared to artists like Wardruna and Danheim. The band has released multiple albums including Fimbulvinter, Aba Kahn, and Siberian Era.
