The Animals are an English rock band formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1962. Known for their gritty, bluesy sound blending blues, R&B, and rock, they were a major force in the British Invasion of the 1960s and became the second British band to top the American charts after The Beatles. Their original lineup featured singer Eric Burdon, guitarist Hilton Valentine, bass guitarist Chas Chandler, keyboardist Alan Price, and drummer John Steel. The band is renowned for timeless classics including 'House of the Rising Sun', 'We Gotta Get Out Of This Place', 'Boom Boom', 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood', 'It's My Life', and 'Bring it on Home to Me'. They continue to perform, with current touring featuring original member John Steel alongside other musicians.
