The Cat Empire is an Australian jazz and funk band formed in Melbourne in 1999. Their sound fuses jazz, funk, ska, and rock with heavy Latin influences including Afro-Cuban, Seychellois Creole, Brazilian, and flamenco elements. The band is often supplemented by The Empire Horns brass duo. They have collaborated with orchestras to reimagine their catalogue on a grand scale, blending their signature style with bold new arrangements.
