The Drones

The Drones are an Australian rock band formed in Perth in 1997, led by mainstay vocalist and guitarist Gareth Liddiard. Known for iconic live performances that balance chaos and precision, the band is recognized for confrontational and liberating stage presence. Liddiard is lauded as one of modern music's most distinctive and uncompromising songwriters, delivering dense poetic lyrics and distinctive vocal delivery combined with political commentary, dark humour, vivid storytelling and powerful musical arrangements. The group released seven studio albums before going on hiatus in December 2016, with two albums reaching the top 20 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Long-term members have included Fiona Kitschin on bass guitar and vocals, Rui Pereira on bass and guitar, Mike Noga on drums and vocals, and Dan Luscombe on guitar and keyboards. The Drones are spanning genres of alternative rock, garage punk, garage rock, noise rock and punk blues.
