Geordie Greep

Geordie Wade Greep is an English musician and singer known for his work as frontman and lead guitarist of the British rock band Black Midi from 2017 to 2024. Working across art rock and jazz rock genres, Greep has launched a solo career with his debut album The New Sound, a sprawling alternative pop record that showcases his distinctive approach to composition. The album features contributions from over thirty session musicians across two continents, including recordings in Brazil with local players. Characterized by unpredictable arrangements that shift between whispers and full-band explosions, The New Sound draws influences from Frank Zappa, Frank Sinatra, and Scott Walker. Lyrically, the record presents rotating characters in surreal scenarios within worlds of cafes, bars, and cabarets where fantasy and reality blur. Greep's live performances follow the same philosophy of variability, with each show featuring different musicians and arrangements.
